Radiotherapy for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma: current standards and outlooks

Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma accounts for 20 % of all malignant non-melanoma skin tumors, which is one the most common cancers worldwide. Antitumor treatment usually very effective: cure rate reaches 90 %, while local recurrence 25 %. The main option primary surgery. significant risk factors locoregional include tumor location (head and neck), size (>2 cm), depth invasion (>4 mm), differentiation grade, perineural invasion, immune system disorders (immunosuppression), severe concomitant diseases, previous treatment. In patients with advanced cutaneous carcinoma, 1-year, 2-year, 3-year survival rates are 50–80, 30–35 15–16 respectively. Radiotherapy a radical that increases 5-year to ensures good cosmetic results in 80 cases. There 3 variants radiotherapy carcinoma: sole according program, adjuvant combination surgery, palliative radiotherapy. frequently, used as part postoperative not initially considered conservative below 45 years age resectable especially high-risk tumors. an affordable effective method combating painful symptoms; moreover, it often provides long-term control.
